Director Election Results At our 64th Annual General Meeting that recently took place at Best Western Lamplighter Inn, over 40 members and guests were presented with a report outlining the Credit Union’s successful performance in 2012. Richard Kemp and Sherry McEvoy were re-elected and Ken Walsh was elected back onto the board after a three year absence. Each will serve a three year term. Kim Darling was honoured for her 9 years of dedicated service to the board of directors. The 64th Annual General Meeting will take place on Tuesday April 8, 2014. In a board meeting immediately after the AGM, Hilary Anderson-Halliday was elected Chair and Ken Walsh was elected Vice Chair. BOARD OF DIRECTORS NOMINATIONS
At boomerang CREDIT UNION, you have a voice as a member/owner. You can also help shape your Credit Union by serving on the Board of Directors. As a Board member, you oversee financial performance, ensure compliance with regulatory and legislative policies and participate in formulating and implementing our strategic direction.
Our eight member Board of Directors meets at the Credit Union the last Tuesday of each month. These meetings typically start at 5:15 pm. In addition to the monthly meetings, Directors are asked to sit on either the Audit or the Corporate Governance Committee. Training is provided through the Credit Union Directors Achievement program as well as through online training programs. Directors are expected to either be competent in, or gain competency through training in all of the following areas: Audit and Compliance Oversight, Board and CEO Performance, Credit Union operations, Financial Literacy, Governance and Ethics, Leadership, Regulatory Environment, Risk Management Oversight and Strategic Planning
